Tennessee Titans: So here is where we stand
The Tennessee Titans have taken their premature bye week and will soon begin preparing to face the red-hot Buffalo Bills on Sunday (we hope). After the facilities at St. Thomas Sports Park were shutdown for a week, the Titans reported no new positive cases of COVID-19 Monday morning for the first time in a week.
But where does the team stand heading into the fourth game of the season?
There have been 20 confirmed cases among Tennessee players and personnel. 10 players have tested positive and 10 coaches/staff members have as well. Seven position groups have been affected with the wide receiving core the most heavily affected.
The following players are currently on the COVID-19/Reserve List:
FB Khari Blasingame
WR Adam Humphries
WR Cameron Batson
TE Tommy Hudson
LS Beau Brinkley
DB Kristian Fulton
DT DaQuan Jones
LB Kamalei Correa
DT Jeffery Simmons
DB Greg Mabin
The NFL is hoping that moving the Titans - Steelers game from Week 4 to Week 7 will be the only scheduling hitch they experience this season, but as we have already seen with Cam Newton of the New England Patriots testing positive, more outbreaks and rescheduling of games will happen before we crown a champion.
If in fact the Titans can travel to New York to face the Bills, the question then becomes, can the team field a good enough roster to not only compete, but play!?
Coaches could be missing from the trip, essential personnel could miss the trip, and those 10 players on the Reserve List are not the only ones who could be held. A.J. Brown has not played since Week 1 with a bone bruise on his knee and rookie Darrynton Evans just made his first appearance against the Vikings.
When healthy, this Titans team is good enough to go toe-to-toe with some of the best in the league. There is a bit of a cushion if the Titans come back a little slow after the unscheduled bye week thanks to that 3-0 start.
Let's hope it doesn't come to that, however, not being able to practice or interact with one another is difficult in the middle of a season.
