Season 2016/2017

Lyon had to solve the departure of Samuel Umtiti to Barcelona and therefore came 20 years-old center back Emanuel Mammana from River Plate, who is injured since November. It was a huge loss for manager Bruno Génésio, because he was a basic building block of the team. Fortunately Lyon brought two other center backs before this season, Nicolas N’Koulou and Mouctar Diakhaby, who are one of the best rated players of Lyon, but Bruno Génésio prefers Mouctar Diakhaby with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and since they play together, Lyon conceded a goal only in 4 of the last 11 matches. Very important player is of course Alexandre Lacazette, who has scored 15 goals in the 15 league matches. We can´t forget on the best rated player Maxime Gonalons, who perfectly balances a pace of the game and Corentin Tolisso begins to show its huge potential, only goalkeeper Anthony Lopes played more matches than Corentin Tolisso. With 36 goals Lyon are the third best scoring team in the Ligue 1 and 22 conceded goals isn´t a bad stats too. Much worse is it with points, because they are losing 11 points for the first Monaco and especially for the second Nice, who I believe will have a fight to keep their position. In my opinion, Nice and Lyon will fight for the third place this season. And the Champions League is a huge motivation for Lyon.

Missing players

Possible lineups (4-2-3-1)

Season 2016/2017

Marseille sold a lot of young and very important players, but on the other hand came many great players almost for free. Marseille also changed manager in October and came Rudi Garcia. I have to say that Marseille look as a very compact team, especially the collaboration between three forwards Clinton N’Jie, Florian Thauvin and captain Bafetimbi Gomis works great. Together have scored 18 of the 23 league goals. On the other hand, 23 conceded goals is a lot, what is the result of three bad matches. Since Rudi Garcia came to Marseille, so they have lost only 3 of the 11 league matches and they have conceded 11 goals in those three matches. In the remaining 8 matches, Marseille conceded only two goals. Except the last match against Monaco, Marseille have conceded only one goal of the last 9 home matches. But the exact opposite are their away matches, Marseille have won only two league matches away from home and both wins are of the last away matches.

Latest 5 Matches

Marseille have lost against Sochaux 2-1 on penalties in the Coupe de la Ligue and then defeated Lille 2-0, thanks to two fast goals in only 5 minutes, but the match was balanced. In the next match Marseille defeated Bastia 1-2, thanks to a goal of Clinton N’Jie in injury time. Marseille were dominated in possession, but Bastia had 16 shots, compared with seven shots of Marseille. Then Marseille defeated Toulouse 1-2 in the Coupe de France, thanks to two goals of Rémy Cabella. In the last match Marseille were dominated in possession again, but Monaco destroyed them 1-4 and this was their first home league defeat of this season.

Marseille have won 4 of the last 5 league matches.

Marseille have scored 10 goals in the last 5 league matches.

There have been over 2.5 goals in 6 of the last 10 league matches.

Missing players

Rudi Garcia will have to do some changes too, because Abou Diaby, Henri Bedimo and Tomas Hubocan are injured and Clinton N’Jie plays on the Africa Cup of Nations. Marseille brought a new addition into the midfield, but Morgan Sanson is unlikely to be available against Lyon.
