The Raw Deal: The Mighty Return with talk on positives and negatives of WWE's current product

They really want us to "remember the Rumble" this year.

I really enjoy professional wrestling.

I really enjoy writing this blog...

But damn it if sometimes both are hard to do.

It's just, sometimes I feel there is more negative than positives to write about.

Sure I can talk about how good I think the WWE's Smackdown Live and Talking Smack shows are.  I can talk about how great NXT is, or even comment on the amazing (and if you haven't yet seen it, find it and watch it) Kenny Omega vs. Okada match for Wrestle Kingdom 11 was.

But then I also have to comment on Monday Night Raw.  I have to talks about the tragic misuse of Kevin Owens as the Universal Champion.  Or the fact that Roman Reigns is continuously stuffed down our throats as the top baby face.  Or the "historic" Women's Division on Raw that's more focused on making history rather than good feuds (and no...Charlotte versus Sasha Banks was NOT a good feud).  Or how about Stephanie McMahon bullying and neutering every superstar she comes across.

As you can see by the paragraphs above...the bad more than outweigh the good...

But I still keep watching.  Especially now with the Royal Rumble coming up.  I wonder if after three Rumbles in a row where the WWE dropped the ball (other than the amazing Brock Lesnar/John Cena/Seth Rollins match from two years ago, and A.J. Styles debut last year) if the WWE will learn their lesson and book appropriately.

My money is on no, unfortunately.

I have a feeling by the end of the night, John Cena will be standing over A.J. Styles as the new WWE Champion, with JBL yelling how "he's tied the Nature Boys record!", and Reigns standing over Owens with the Universal Championship, with the Raw announce team telling us how great "the big dog" is.  Then knowing WWE, the man winning the Rumble will be Braun Strowman.

I'm shaking my head at this scenario...

This almost makes as much sense as Josh Barnett walking into a wrestling promotion and winning the World Title on his first night...

.....Damn!

I digress, the Royal Rumble is very star studded this year, more so than years past, and I'm very much looking forward to the event in a week-or-so.  With names like Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and The Undertaker entering the match, and with well pushed stars like Strowman and Baron Corbin being involved the match has some intrigue and should lead to some epic moments.  There's even rumors that a certain "Samoan Submission Machine" may debut on the main roster in the match...

On top of the Rumble, Cena versus Styles seems like it will continue their series of great matches, no matter the outcome.  I just hope after all is said and done, Styles gets a big Wrestlemania match.  Lord knows he should.

Of course we can always hope that the horrible Owens/Reigns/Jericho/Rollins debacle ends as well.

To sum it all up...2017 looks to be more of the same as 2016 for WWE.  They have all the amazing talent, but in all the wrong places.  Hopefully at some point over the next 11 months they realize that.  Rest assure...The Raw Deal will be there to discuss and cover it...no matter how good or bad.
