BREAKING: Titans' Mariota suffers broken Fibula, out for season

The Tennessee Titans' playoff hopes took two huge hits on Saturday:

First, the team lost the Jacksonville Jaguars, 38-17.

Second, the team lost their star quarterback in the second half. Marcus Mariota was carted off the field in the 3rd quarter after being sacked by Jacksonville's Sheldon Day. It was later announced that Mariota has a fractured fibula.

The Titans, coming in to this week, were 8-6, and were in a tie atop the AFC South division, with the 8-6 Houston Texans. They controlled their own destiny. All they had to do was win these final two games (against the Jaguars this week, and against Houston next week) and they would win the division. With today's loss, they now need the Bengals to beat Houston tonight, and they need to win next week. But without Mariota, Matt Cassel will be starting next week's game, and that makes the Titans' path to the postseason much more difficult.

I wish a speedy recovery to Marcus, and I can't wait to see him back on the field.
