MNF Recap: Osweiler Returns to Mile High
Brock Osweiler's return to Denver was so big it was given a prime time slot on Monday Night Football. But it will be a night that he will want to forget. He never looked comfortable and the Broncos pass rush was not as dominant as it normally is. He missed throws and did have some balls dropped but he was outplayed by Trevor Siemian who was 14/25 for 157 yards and one touchdown.
Osweiler was 22/41 for 131 yards and lost a fumble when the ball just slipped out of his hand while attempting a pass early in the fourth quarter. That was after running back Alfred Blue lost a fumble on the previous possession. Osweiler had 3 fumbles on the night but only lost the one and his very first attempt was almost a pick six by TJ Ward.
The Broncos running game stole the show last night night as CJ Anderson and rookie Devontae Booker combined for 190 yards on 32 carries with 2 touchdowns. The Broncos running game had struggled recently and was a major factor in their two game losing streak entering Monday night but got it fixed against a weak Texans run defense.
The Texans and Osweiler fall to 0-3 on the road and return home to host the Lions next week and the Broncos improve to 5-2 and will host the red hot Chargers next week.
