Reds got off to a good start, but could not muster any offense the rest of the way as the Reds snapped their four game win streak by falling 5-1 in the first game of a three game series to the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the first inning, Cincinnati used small ball to score the first run of the ball game to take an early 1-0 lead. Billy Hamilton reached with a bloop single into center, stole second base, advanced to third on a sacrifice fly by Jose Peraza, and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Joey Votto. After that, the Reds offense could not generate any more offense despite Zack Cozart having a 3-for-3 night.

The Brewers used a four-run third inning to decide to ball game as the Brew Crew got an RBI ground out from Jonathan Villar to tie the game, an Eric Thames RBI single to give them the lead, and Ryan Braun padded on with a two-run home run to make it 4-1. Thames would tack on another run with a solo shot in the fifth inning.

Cincinnati starter Bronson Arroyo had an OK start as he went six innings allowing five earned runs on seven hits while striking out two as he suffered the loss and fell to 0-2 on the season.

Milwaukee hurler was much better as he threw seven innings allowing only one earned run on five hits and struck out five to earn his first win of the year.

The Reds go at it tomorrow at 7:10 pm with Scott Feldman (1-0, 2.53) looking to even the series at one game a piece as the Brewers will trot out lefty Tommy Milone (0-0, 9.00).
