2017 Underrated C-USA Teams

C-USA doesn't make a lot of noise unless it involves Louisiana Tech and Western Kentucky. Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss has gained some attention in this conference. But the cherry on top of the attention is new FIU head coach Butch Davis and new FAU head coach Lane Kiffin. Marshall returns plenty of talent including Chase Litton after a disappointing season. Old Dominion hopes to return to a bowl game as well after their disappointing season. But the team to watch out for in C-USA is UTSA. Here are my C-USA underrated picks that should grab some people's attention.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE BLUE RAIDERS- C-USA East
Last season: 8-5 overall; 5-3 (3rd in East)

They continue to win one more game each year since 2014. They also return 3rd year QB-WR duo that helped make it all possible (Brent Stockstill and Richie James). The defense hopes to turn things around after an ugly season allowing 35+ points per game. They return all their linebackers and corners but the passing defense must be addressed, especially when playing in a conference that has some pass-happy teams. The defensive front will be questioned but getting defensive end Walter Brady from Missouri could help provide some pass rush. Middle Tennessee could add one more win to their total this season if the defense improves, but this team overall will be challenged with the first three games in September and the last two games in November.
UTSA ROADRUNNERS- C-USA WEST
Last season: 6-7 overall; 5-3 (Tied 2nd in West)

UTSA returns with loaded talent and experience at each level of offense, defense, and special teams. Senior quarterback Dalton Sturm was a good manageable quarterback, running back Jalen Rhodes will fill the void after Jarveon Williams moved on to the NFL, and receivers Josh Stewart and Kerry Thomas will be the main targets to go to again. The defense had a solid season and should continue even without expected starting defensive end, Solomon wise (knee injury). Linebacker Josiah Tauaefa was C-USA Freshmen of the Year after a great performance last season. After the first two games, they may have the best shot at winning their first West division title since joining the FBS. Why? Between them, Louisiana Tech, and Southern Miss, UTSA has a returning quarterback with game and bowl experience. They do play them both this season.
