Lady Falcons get defensive in rout of Bennett County
Late third quarter with a career high of 26 already under her belt, and leading Bennett County by 30, Todd County 8th-grader, Kelsie Herman found herself behind a Bennett County player. When the ball got poked away, Herman could have watched while the Bennett County player casually picked it up....Could have...Herman dove on the floor wrestled it away, kicked it to an open teammate who promptly looked ahead for an open teammate that resulted in two points for the Lady Falcons.
One possession later, after the Falcons forced another turnover, Todd County sophomore, Raven Cournoyer found herself pushing ahead, on the right wing, near half-court. Cournoyer, could have taken it to the rack, but running-hard from way back was fellow soph, Gabby Iron Heart. Iron Heart found another gear and Cournoyer whippled a ridiculously well-aimed pass to Iron Heart, who caught and finished.
Aaaahhh, beautiful basketball Lady Falcons who won the game 77-26
Lotta work ahead and a lot of areas to improve upon but dang if the first quarter didn't tell all. All day long people were wondering just what this Lady Falcon squad was going to look like. Athletes all over the floor, lotta new faces and some hungry young ladies that appeared to be EATING in mid-season form.
The press, ridiculously effective as Todd County sped up Bennett County to the tune of some hefty steal totals that resulted in a 32-9 lead after one quarter.
32-9, and it coulda been 40...Valandra had a coast-to-coast drive that was vish....Cournoyer and Doris White Hat were terrific and Alanis Murray and Lacee Halligan were both really, really good!
Anyone see the pic that Kathryn Bear Shield laid out a Bennett County defender with? Wheeeoooowwwww, basketball is back!
JV looked great, big crown, oh and the cheerleaders...
