Potter County looks BATTLE tested....AGAIN!
Went looking through basketball recaps in the Mitchell Daily Republic this morning...Scrolling, scrolling....Hmmmmm...Potter County 69-33 over Lyman. Don't know a whole lot about Lyman, but they have a long and storied tradition up there, and if they're not great, they're usually pretty good.
It's starting to become an annual event up in Potter County for the Battlers to make the trip to Aberdeen. From the picture above, I know at least the big guy is gone.
Remember watching a bit of the B tournament last season and distinctly remember Tanner Storer having a great game. Competitive, physical can run and was really getting after it. No surprise then that Storer, the 5-foot-9 senior rattled home 18 points in the opener. Ben Krueger, the 6-foot sophomore guard led the team with 19 points.
Rolling through the stats came across this gem: Vs. Lyman, the Battlers had just two turnovers. Two turnovers in the entire game, first contest of the season...That's impressive!
Potter County shot 30-of-73 from the field and was 2-of-10 on free throws. Lyman was 11-of-44 shooting and made 8-of-13 free throws. The Battlers had just two turnovers and forced 15 against Lyman in the win.
Potter County (1-0) hosts Miller on Tuesday. Lyman (0-1) hosts Sully Buttes in Presho on Tuesday.
Pretty good run of boys sports up in Potter County right now. Football team got to the semis, basketball team looks good and the wrestling team just won the Stanley County Invitational.
Keep an eye on these guys...they gonna be dangerous...AGAIN!
