Which Nick Foles will show up for these Eagles ?

With Carson Wentz being ruled out for the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, Superbowl MVP Nick Foles will look to take over once again. But will the Eagles get Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles, or will they get the Nick Foles who recently had a below-average preseason performance.

In only playing two games this preseason, Foles was only able to complete 16 of his 26 passes for 171 yards (doesn't seem that bad, right). But Foles' completion rate was dominated by the fact that he was unable to throw for touchdowns in both preseason games. In Foles' last preseason game, he was able to complete 75.6 percent of his passes for 127 yards -- but he threw for two interceptions and completed zero touchdowns on 14 total drives.

When Foles was asked for input on his last performance against the Cleveland Browns, he stated, “It’s not fun playing the way I did. “I really hurt us tonight.”

So many fans have gone on to say, "it's just the preseason," or "He'll get it together; he's the reigning Superbowl MVP." Though by looking back at Foles' history, these preseason games do matter.

Foles has followed a pattern of inconsistency throughout his whole NFL career. He's one of those Quarterbacks that puts a smile on your face because he's had a really good game. Then on the contrary, he'll turn that smile upside down because of a really bad game.

A great reference to Foles' pattern of inconsistency can be traced to this years preseason, in which has now been thrown into the mix of dreadful performances being followed by great performances under Foles. Foles' horrible preseason performance has now been followed by his terrific post-season run that brought the Eagles to the Superbowl. You see the pattern, folks?

On the other hand, Foles should probably put this all behind him and focus on the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. This is a team who's defense finished top 10 in yards and points allowed last year. They have promising young pieces to their defensive core and are certainly not a defense that teams should take lightly.

The Eagles will sooner or later have Carson Wentz back at full health and ready to go. But for now, Foles is the starting Quarterback in which we can only hope he will be ready to go for game-day -- looking to set the tone for Wentz's return.
