Brooks Crawford - RHP - Junior - Clemson

A 6'5 225 lb. right-hander, Crawford was primarily used as a reliever in his first two seasons at Clemson, but became the Saturday starter for the Tigers this spring. In 65.0 innings over 13 starts, Crawford has pitched to a 3.60 ERA with 6.51 K/9 and 1.66 BB/9.

Crawford has a three pitch arsenal consisting of a fastball, changeup and a breaking ball. His fastball hits 92-93 out of the gate before settling in the 89-91 range over the course of the game. His changeup sits in the 80-83 range, and his breaking ball sits 79-82.

Crawford doesn't have overpowering stuff, and doesn't miss many bats, but he pounds the zone and has shown good pitchability, inducing a lot of weak contact. He struggled a bit in the Cape Cod League last summer, pitching to a 4.68 ERA with 16 strikeouts and 13 walks while holding opponents to a .237 batting average in 25 innings for Hyannis, but that was after missing the second half of his spring due to an illness.

While there is nothing overly exciting about Crawford, he will pound the zone and throw strikes, and has the ceiling of a back end starter.
