76ers Joel Embiid wants to play point guard

So apparently the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid wants to be a point guard before he retires from the NBA.

After a good win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, Embiid told the media during the post-game scrum that he wants to eventually transition to being a point guard because he had a great time setting up fellow big man Nerlens Noel in their 93-91 victory. Per CBS Sports:

"I've always thought that I'm a guard," Embiid said. "So having him rolling to the basket, because he's so athletic, he can catch lobs, and me just playing on the perimeter or posting up and just handling the ball -- by the end of my career, I want to be a point guard, so that was good."

It is true that Embiid is a very, very talented big man. But point guard? Currently he is averaging 1.9 assists per game and 3.7 turnovers per game, so he’ll have to work on reversing those two stats before he considers making the switch. Embiid is obviously trolling here, as he often does, but him running his team’s offense in the future is a possibility. He is only in his first year and he has so much potential. Who knows, he might start working on fancy passes this summer and start handing out assists like Arvydas Sabonis and Chris Webber next season.
