According to Christopher Heady of, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have a little more juice heading into their showdown with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

“I have noted a buzz by our players and an excitement for this game,” Riley said during his Big Ten teleconference appearance. “I think they not only feel the importance of playing Iowa, but putting an exclamation point on our season and getting another win.”

The Huskers are one win away from reaching a 10-win season. After last year's (6-7) campaign, Riley and the Huskers were looking for a better performance this season. With the exception of the 59-point loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Huskers have performed admirably this season. However, they need one more win to have a stellar season.

Currently, the Huskers are tied for first place in the Big Ten West. They are the only Big Ten team to play on Friday. Therefore, their focus should solely be on the Hawkeyes. If they win, Riley said there will be some televisions on the Minnesota vs. Wisconsin game. Due to the Huskers' early game, they can really put some pressure on Wisconsin.

“I think they sense that excitement getting to play,” he said.

After Nebraska's overtime loss to the Badgers, there was a chance that the division race would come down to the final weekend. Therefore, the Huskers aren't surprised to be in this position. Unfortunately, Nebraska wasn't able to complete the game-winning drive, but they can make amends on Black Friday.

As far as the quarterback position goes, the Huskers are still in a precarious position. Zack Darlington took first-team reps as planned. However, he was joined by Tommy Armstrong on a limited basis on Monday. Ryker Fyfe didn't participate during practice due to soreness. He had surgery on his left wrist on Sunday. Chances are, Fyfe will be available to play if needed.
