Syracuse vs. Boston halftime update

The Syracuse Orange lead the Boston Terriers, 45-39 at halftime. After falling behind early, the Orange used their bench to establish a first half lead. However, the Terriers were undeterred by the Carrier Dome in the first 20 minutes. 

The first half of the contest was dominated by Boston's Cedric Hankerson. He was fouled twice during 3-point attempts. In addition, Hankerson knocked down five 3-pointers, scoring 19 first-half points. However, he wasn't alone in the scoring department for the Terriers. Eric Fanning added nine points, five rebounds and two assists in the first half.  

Meanwhile, John Gillon shined bright for the Orange off the bench. He led the Orange with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists in the first half. Taurean Thompson scored 12 points, while grabbing five rebounds in the first 20 minutes. 

The Orange and the Terriers were tied at 23 with 7:45 left in the first half. Syracuse used an 11-3 run to even things up. Roughly 7 minutes into the game, the Terriers jumped out to a 20-12 lead. Back to back three-pointers by Hankerson gave the Terriers their largest lead of the half. Meanwhile, Hankerson's fourth 3-pointer of the day tied the game at 27. 

The Terriers were held to 38 percent from the field in the first half. The Orange shot 48.6 percent from the field.
