Premier League Headlines: Round 2.

There were contentious matches, a blowout and a shocking upset included in the second weekend of the Premier League. Here are five headlines that defined it.

* Aguero's hat trick leads to another Man City romp.

Manchester City began their tour of the newly promoted clubs of the past two years by tearing apart Huddersfield, 6-1. Sergio Aguero scored in the 25th, 35th and 75th minutes for his ninth career Premier League hat trick. Gabriel Jesus added one in the 31st minute and David Silva put a free kick into the net at the 48th minute. Huddersfield's Terrene Kangolo added an own goal for good measure in the 84th minute.

Huddersfield have conceded nine goals already in two matches. They have scored six goals in their past 14 matches. Jon Gorenc Stankovic scored the lone Huddersfield's goal of this season in the 43rd minute.

* Blues over Gunners, 3-2.

Chelsea's new manager, Maurizio Sarri has six points out of six, but his counterpart, Unai Emery has yet to dent the point total after Chelsea's 3-2 win over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Pedro scored his second goal of the season in the ninth minute and Alvaro Morata added another in the 20th minute. It was the beleaguered Morata's first goal since April 22nd.

Arsenal found a finishing touch late in the first half when Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened Arsenal's account for the season at the 37th minute and Alex Iwobi got the equalizer four minutes later. The Gunners were taking advantage of Chelsea's struggling flanks. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could have had a couple of goals himself.

Marcos Alonso took an Eden Hazard cross to the back of the net for the game clincher in the 81st minute. Hazard played 29 minutes after playing 15 minutes last week and made an impact on both games.

* Reds wreck Palace party, 2-0.

Not interested in sending a statement

That was Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp's statement after their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace, Monday night. Liverpool kept pace with Manchester City with the win, but it wasn't an easy match for Liverpool in raucous Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace pressed hard up until a penalty call right before halftime. Liverpool's Mohamed Saleh was hauled down by Mamdou Sakho in the box. James Milner took the penalty kick into the back of the net for first blood.

Palace would have to press harder, and they did to start the second half. Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson had to make a leaping, fingertip save on an Andros Townsend volley. Mohamed Saleh began to find breakaway space on several occasions, one causing a red card to Palace defender, Aaron Wan-Bissaka as he clipped Saleh in the 75th minute. His final breakaway found Sadio Mane as he burned Palace defenders for his and their second goal.

* Brighton shocks Manchester United, 3-2.

Is it really a shock result? Brighton did beat Manchester United by a goal last year at the AMEX Stadium. It's still easily the largest upset of this young season and will be one of the largest upsets of the entire season.

We knew coming into this game, we could take heart from our performance against them last year.

That was Brighton's Glenn Murray, who opened up the scoring in the 25th minute. Two minutes later, Shane Duffy added another on stunned United. Romelu Lukaku would get one back in the 34th minute but Pascal Gross took a penalty shot past United goalkeeper, David de Gea right before the half to make it 3-1. Manchester United never conceded three goals in all of last year.

Shane Duffy hit Marouane Fellaini to draw a Paul Pogba penalty kick in the dying seconds, but it was just window dressing. United deserved the result. Poor ball handling and sloppy defense can get you beat by anyone in this league.

United has to shake this stinker off quickly as it hosts Tottenham, Monday night.

* Watford and Bournemouth have maximum points.

A revamped Watford has taken six points with victories over Brighton and last year's surprise club, Burnley. Europa League duties has affected a thin Burnley.

Bournemouth has victories over Cardiff City and West Ham. Callum Wilson has been sweet for the Cherries with goals in each of the two matches.
