IT
I was driving to Bay Roberts with my
brother and his friend. My brother threw out the following joke,
Q What`s a great gay pickupline in a
nursing bar?
A Can I push in your stool?
I was unaware what stool meant and so I
didn`t get it. It was not the first nor last time I didn`t get it.
Somethings I will never get. I don`t understand the female need for males to put the toilet
seat down. If I was a female, I would want it left up so I could be
confident no one peed on it. I have had more than one arguement
about that one. Pillow shams? Decorations for pillows when I am not
there. Makes the pillow look pretty when NO ONE is there to see them?
Nope, don`t get it.
I feel there are a tonne of people who
don`t get it. I watch people who act a certain way or try to fit into
situations and you can see their cluelessness.
Johnny Manzeil looks like a guy who
doesn`t get it. I am not sure how he got to his present position
without getting it but as his NFL career progresses, I am not sure we
will ever see it with him. He is supposed to be a leader and a guy
players would go through a wall for but he keeps slapping people in
the face. He shows up late as a rookie but says everything is fine.
He gives Washington the finger and acts like its ok. Not seeing a
whole lot of it from Johnny Football.
Some of the Ice Bucket Challenge
participants don`t get it. You see, in this type of awareness
challenge, it is not just about the spectacular of dumping a bucket
of ice water on your head as you scream. You then go and donate to
ALS and help them get closer to finding a cure. It`s not a game of
video tag where you challenge someone else and say You`re it! You
also throw some of your own coins to the cause as well. I would like
to believe 100% of the people who dump ice water on their heads are
also throwing some amount on the charity pile as well, but I doubt
it. If you wonder why you are doing it, watch the ESPN piece below.

Then you should get it for sure!
It is an understanding of the whole.
You know the deeper purpose of the activity you are involved with.
How the activity is bigger than you and how the spirit is bigger than
the outcome. When Ernie Els won the British open after Adam Scott
collapsed, he got it. There was no real celebrating, more modest
acceptance. When Greg Popovich talked to Craig Sager Jr. during one
of the between quarter interviews he despises so much.

He got it and I got misty eyed.
Maybe one of the better examples I`ve
seen in a while was this coach after his team lost in the LLWS.

Be sure to appreciate those around you who get it. Those who understand the greater good and the bigger cause they are fighting for. They are not looking for celebrity or endorsements, but every now and again, a quiet whispered thanks and a silent pat on the back would do just fine.
