Some Thoughts as I Get Over My First Round Hangover
1. Raptor's Fans Watch Out
So I am walking my dogs last Friday and proudly wearing my Raptor shooting shirt. As I passed a couple, the guy actually said, "They lost you know!" While we have good people in the world, I have immediately judged this moron as bad. Did he think I was unaware of the misfortunes of my team? Maybe he is the evil villain the Salt Rubber; walking around making bad situations worse. He sees a child asking for money from their parents, "They obviously have money if they can afford that car". He sees a larger girl wearing yoga pants and says, "So I guess they don't make everyone's ass look better". I actually bit my tongue and walked on but I did secretly wish he discovered his daughter was dating Donald Sterling.
2. Corey Plays GM #1
After all of the rumblings about Roy Hibbert, I feel like he might get moved in the off season. Here is my best move:
To Golden State
Roy Hibbert and CJ Watson and maybe a sign and trade with Lance Stevenson
To Indiana
David Lee and Harrison Barnes
David Lee is a tough Larry Bird type play and Harrison Barnes is missing playing time thanks to last summer's acquisition of Iguodala. CJ Watson had a less than productive year but Hibbert is an all-star who would benefit from a change of scenery. Stevenson might be the necessary piece to make this work.
3. Corey Plays GM#2
This one would be huge.
To OKC
This year's #1 draft pick which will become Andrew Wiggins
To Whoever has that pick
Russell Westbrook
Durant does not need a ball hungry guy pounding the rock, he needs someone to play Scottie to his Michael. Andrew will be able to guard the other team's star and would complement Durant's personality. Westbrook would immediately give a bottom feeder an all-star who will attract fans. Their only risk is his knee issues.
4. Series that are Over
I think the Spurs and the Heat are going to be in their respective conference finals after five games with lots of time to wait for their opponent. Despite their inspired play last night, Brooklyn is exhausted after their battle with Toronto. Portland just does not match up at all with the Spurs. The other remaining four teams must hate how much rest their next round opponent is in for.
5. Why is Kerr so popular?
I appreciate Steve Kerr had a solid NBA career and he has a good basketball mind but the desire to give him a head coaching position is ridiculous. With so many unemployed coaches out there, why is Kerr considered the Golden boy? He was not a great GM in Phoenix and was never a leader on the teams he played for. The average guy has to toil away on a bench for years to even get considered for a position and everyone just wants to hand the reigns to Kerr? I believe the only fit for him is New York where Phil can actually teach him how to coach.
6. A Retraction: Go Away Shelly
A few blogs ago I wrote how Shelly Sterling could help us all. Now she is vowing to keep the Clippers in the Sterling family. Can these people just go away? I am tired of them and they are no longer welcomed at the NBA party.
