The Week of the Not So Golden Calf: An O2 Fuel Mini Series

Last Sunday I was so happy with myself. I had started a new exercise program and kick started my training. I had written a blog and received a fair amount of positive feedback. The sun was out and I was even going to run in shorts. I was killing it.
If it was a movie, anyone watching would know something was about to go wrong. Also, I know a lot of you know little or nothing about me, but I can say this with certainty:
My greatest failures surface with a procomolation of success.
… Stupid Karma…
4 kms into a 10km run, I felt the tweek, I didn't take the hint.
5km into the run, I thought I could be in trouble but I also thought I might muscle through it. (I can feel some of you shaking your heads in disappointment and no Andrew the solution is not more burpees.)
By 6km my leg went on strike. It took me close to an hour to walk the final 4 km.
Monday I did the intelligent thing and allowed my leg to rest. There was guilt but I did not give in. When I returned Tuesday, I liked that people asked where I was. To his credit, Adam was right about being accountable and a member of a team.
This post could have also been, “The week of Emily.”
Tuesday
Emily: So where were you yesterday? Did you make the 4 o’clock class?
Me: No, I hurt my calf during a run on Sunday.
Emily: So maybe you give your calf a break on the weekend?
Wednesday
Emily: Maybe you need to add something to that bar?
Me: like a couple of 10s?
Emily: Nah, you’ll be fine with the 25s
At the end of the session,
Emily: See how easy those 25s were, can’t have you dogging it.
Thursday
I was in a bad mood, Emily left me alone as I pouted.
Friday
First off, thanks to everyone who skipped and left the five of us there with her.
Emily: I think you could do 15s
Me: ok
Emily: I think you could do 20s
Me: ok
Emily: I think you could do 25s
Me: ok
Emily: I think you could do 30s
Me: nope
Seriously it was a lot of fun/hell. She also reminded me to take it easy on my calf this weekend which I thought was nice.
I was also a good boy with food this weekend. I am starting to get into an eating rhythm. #go-me
