#DearVin

Dear Vin,

When my mother was pregnant with me over 25 years ago, I don't think she thought she would give birth to a Dodgers fanatic.  I know from what she told me that she went to games while I was in the womb and attended my first game when I was an infant.

We moved to Nashville, Tenn., when I was three-years-old and the South is Braves country.  For years, we went without hearing your voice and having to deal with only nationally televised games every once in a while.  THe only time I heard you call a game for the longest time was from highlights and my PlayStation MLB game.

Then came XM Radio.  What a great invention XM Radio is! I remember times where we sat in the garage or in the driveway just to hear one more play.  Just a few years ago, we purchased the MLB.tv package.  Mom will watch the game downstairs in her room, while I watch the game upstairs in mine.  Let me tell you, being in the central timezone is not friendly to those who have to be up early!  I also have the MLB on my phone and will turn the television game feed on instead of the radio feed when I'm driving home from work or am out and about, don't worry though, I don't drive and watch!

I've been in the press box at Dodger Stadium multiple times, hoping to catch a glimpse of you walking by, but it sadly has never happened. It is crazy to think that the only voice my mom and I have ever heard behind the mic for Dodger games will no longer be there.

You are the voice who connects generations with this team and it will not be the same without you.  I wish you good luck and good health in your retirement and if you like coming out of retirement every now and then, we will welcome you back with open ears.

Sincerely,

Maren Angus
