The Phoenix Suns Would Be The Ideal Fit For Ben Simmons

Even though many NBA experts are projecting Ben Simmons to be the first overall pick in the NBA draft but it may best for him to be drafted later on in the draft. This is because Ben Simmons needs to play in an offensive system similar to that of LeBron James in order to experience immediate success at the NBA level. Where he would have the paint relatively empty so that he is able to put pressure on the defense to make a decision on whether they will double-team him or not. If the defense double-teams Simmons will most likely pass it to the perimeter for an open shot. If they do not he will shoot a jumper or drive depending on whether the defense sags off or plays close to him.

As a result of this, the Phoenix Suns seem to be the only team that is an ideal fit for him. Since the phoenix suns as currently constructed are in need of a player who is capable of using their speed and strength to put pressure on the Defense to make a decision on whether to collapse on the player or pay attention to everyone else. This is because ever since Eric Bledsoe went down with a knee injury in late December, the suns have been lacking a wing player who has the speed and strength to put pressure on the Defense. As a result, the majority of their half court offensive plays consists of 2-4 passes between the three-point line and free throw line followed by either a post up or taking a long jumper.

If the suns are able to draft Ben Simmons they will give him the opportunity to be the primary playmaker of an offense, which in turn will give the suns the dimension they had before Bledsoe got injured. As Ben Simmons will most likely receive the ball above the three-point line and will start to drive towards the basket if the Defense collapses on him will kick it out to Devin Booker or PJ Tucker for the open shot.
