Cubs Put The Giants Away in 4 Games

Last night the Chicago Cubs defeated the San Francisco giants by a score of 6-5, for the Cubs this game was not a joy ride, it started in the bottom of the first inning as John Lackey gave up a double to the leadoff man Denard Span. Span was moved over by Brandon Belt and then Buster Posey hit him in with a Sac Fly. The Cubs came back in the top of the third inning when David Ross homered off of Matt Moore. That did not last very long when in the fourth inning pitcher Matt Moore and Denard Span both had RBI singles. David Ross did it again in the Cubs half of the fifth with a sac fly scoring Javier Baez bringing the score to a San Francisco lead of 3-2. In the bottom of the fifth giants started pulling away as Conor Gillaspie had an RBI single and Joe Panik scored Brandon Crawford on a sac fly. With the Cubs looking at a most likely game five, they finally pulled it together in the ninth. In the top of the ninth inning Giants manager Bruce Bochy decided to replace Matt Moore who had been throwing a great game with Derek Law. Law gave up a single to Kris Bryant putting a man on for the Cubs. Next, Anthony Rizzo walked followed by an RBI double by Ben Zobrist. The next batter Willson Contreras got 2 RBI’s on a single tying the game at 5, and then Javier Baez, after an error by Brandon Crawford, drove in the winning run with a single to center scoring Jason Heyward. Aroldis Chapman came in and struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth clinching the series for the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs scored four in the 9th to win the series. They play next saturday night against the Dodgers or the Nationals pending on the game five that will be played thursday evening. Is this the year for the Cubs? It’s off to a nice start.
