Rumour Mill: Cecil Offered Three Year Deal

Rumour has it that the Toronto Blue Jays have offered Brett Cecil a three-year contract.

Remember in Saturday's post (Nov. 12) when I wrote that there's going to be more transaction rumours involving Toronto Blue Jays?

I also wrote that pitcher, Brett Cecil was amongst the players in the rumours

Well, here we are two days later and Cecil's name has been mentioned again.

Sportsnet's broadcaster, Jamie Campbell is reporting that the Blue Jays have offered Cecil a three-year contract.  Financial terms have not been disclosed at this time.

I'm on the fence about this rumour.

Cecil has had his good times on the mound, but last year, he struggled.

Of course, Cecil was injured for a good part of the year.

In 2016, Cecil had a 1-7 win-loss record, a 3.93 earned run average (ERA), and struck out just 45 batters in 54 appearances.

From 2013-15, Cecil put up fairly good statistics on the mound.

During that time (2013-15), Cecil had a 2.67 ERA. and struck out 216 batters in 168 1/3 innings pitched.
