This is a new article series I am going to try and run daily with my core players I will be using and what slate I am playing. The stats I discuss for the pitchers are from my DFS MLB Starting Pitcher sheet(stats courtesy of FanGraphs). The stats for the hitters are also pulled from FanGraphs which is one of the best sources out there. Be sure to go sign up to help make sure the site stays with us forever!

Tonight, we have a 21 game main-slate with a nice selection of pitchers available despite the lack of elite star power.

On DraftKings, I am going light tonight and playing just three lineups($3 three entry max, $5 three entry max) and on FanDuel I am playing three $2 single entry(588 entrants) contests. The reason I am going light is not due to the slate itself but the fact I am the DFSR projection guy on Monday's and also run the chatroom which really limits my time. If you have other specific questions about my picks or anything MLB, be sure to head over and join the chat! Let's jump right into the picks.

Starting Pitcher

Jacob deGrom (DK-$13,400 / FD-$11,000) - The price on DK seems high but he is clearly the top pitcher on the slate. He has won sevens traight decisions and has held the opponent to one or less earned runs in six of those starts and holds an elite 10.31 K.9 rate on the year. The price may have something to do with the Padres who strikeout 25.6% of the time vs. right-handed pitching and have scored a league low 371 runs this season.

Hyun-Jin Ryu (DK-$7,700 / FD - $7,100) - The other pitcher I will be building my lineups around on both sites is Ryu. He also gets a pretty decent matchup vs. the Twins who are much worse vs. LH pitching with a .303 wOBA and 86 wRC+. They have also struk out over 24% of the time over the last 14 days. After giving up four earned runs in back to back starts in June, Ryu has looked much better allowing just two earned runs in three straight with 18 K's.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Bartolo Colon - The Dodgers are in prime spot to put up runs toniht vs. arguably the worst pitcher on the slate in Bartolo Colon. He is giving up a .413 wOBA to RH batters and a .379 wOBA vs. LH batters to tee off with both tonight.

Top Players to Stack - Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, Chase Utley, Justin Turner

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Kevin Gausman - Speaking of bad pitchers, I absolutely love picking on Kevin Gausman of the Orioles who will face a division rival. Yes, he looked goo din his last start against them and in his most recent start overall but I think that drives the ownership down which is what I am looking for in single entry and three-entry max contests. Gausman has been prone to blowups this season giving up four or more earned runs in 10 of his 21 starts and carries a 6.11 ERA and 16% HR/FB rate into tonight. He has also given up a .390 wOBA to LH and .370 wOBA to RH batters.

Top Players to Stack - Steven Souza JR, Evan Longoria, Corey Dickerson, Logan Morrison
