DFS PGA Ownership Breakdown - Genesis Open

With all the talk of rain the past few days, it was the fog that caused the first delay of the tournament. It was a short delay at the start of the Genesis Open and play is now underway and the Birdies are dropping. Let's take a look at the ownership breakdown in both cash games and tournaments.

No real surprises once again this week as DraftKings has adopted a Major-like salary structure over the past three weeks. With more of a loaded field this week the cash game ownership is down slightly at the top with Brendan Steele at 62.5% and five players total above 50%. Again, with the loaded field, GPP ownership was spread around quite nicely with everyone under 40%, three guys over 30% and just seven players over 20%.

Looking at my predictions for ownership of the guys I wrote up in my DFSR article, I was correct on DJ at 30%+(not a stretch considering all factors), correct on Spieth(falling outside Top 10 with price increase) and dead on with List at 5% owned. Where I went wrong, and what I believe to be a product of the new pricing, was with Jason Day and Justin Rose. Day didn't play his best golf last week despite a Top 5 and with the amount of talent in the top tier I figured he would be lower owned. Wrong!(25.6%/6th in GPP). Rose, on the other hand, was coming off a disappointing T39 at Pebble but also saw a price drop this week. The value in the price was obviously enough to drive the masses to him as he is the 3rd highest owned golfer in average GPP ownership.

Another useful exercise each week is to look at where the top owned guys compare to the FanShareSports Pro "Most Tagged List".
