David Pastrnak Off to a Strong Start for Bruins

The Boston Bruins won tonight, beating the Winnipeg Jets 4-1.  One of the goal scorers for the Bruins was David Pastrnak, who put the Bruins up 2-1 with an late second period goal.  That marks Pastrnak's 4th goal of the season already, and he is off to a fantastic start this year.

Pastrnak had 2 goals in the season opener against the Blue Jackets.  He was the lone Bruin's goal scorer against the Maple Leafs.  And he scored again tonight.  This is exactly the kind of production the Bruins need from Pastrnak.  Is he going to keep this pace up all season long?  Obviously not.  But he does need to keep scoring on a regular basis.  This is what the Bruins envisioned when they selected Pastrnak in the first round of the 2014 draft.  Injuries have hampered Pastrnak's NHL production so far, but he is still just 20 years old.  Pastrnak has a long and productive career ahead of him, and that is great news for the Bruins.

Hopefully the injuries are behind him, because he looks like a much improved player this season.  I really want to see what kind of numbers he can put up playing a full season.  If he can stay healthy, I certainly believe Pastrnak can score 30 goals and 60 points this year.  It's not just about numbers either; Pastrnak looks much more comfortable overall.  Maybe it's because he's a few seasons into his career or maybe it's because he's improving and a better player now, but he looks like a solid top six forward so far this season.  I really like what I'm seeing from Pastrnak, and I hope he can keep playing at a high level.  This could be his breakout season, and propel him into being one of the top young players in the league.
