It's Only April, but Mets Need to Buckle Up Fast

The New York Mets have lost four straight games, and their last eight out of nine games. It is inexcusable for a team that has talent and trying to make the playoffs.

They are 8-11 in the standings, and the Mets currently sit in fourth place in the NL East. The freaking Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies are ahead in the division, how pathetic is that?

New York still 13 more games within the division, before they play outside of the division opponents starting with the San Francisco Giants on May 8.

The first 32 games against divisional opponents was an opportunity for the Mets to take advantage off, but once again they find a way to let their fan base down.

Yes it is only April, but New York's next series is against the Atlanta Braves. If the bottom feeder Braves take two out of three or sweep the Mets, New York should just mail it in but they probably won't. Who knows, maybe firing Terry Collins would put this team on a wake up call.

Yoenis Cespedes missing games is big for this team, but can the excuses of him being out of the lineup stop please. Championship contenders don't make excuses if players are hurt. They just go out and play.

The only player(s) that seems to do that on a night-to-night basis is Michael Conforto, Neil Walker, and Jay Bruce. Yoenis Cespedes also does to, but he has been inconsistent.

The Mets also struggle to score runs and get help from the bullpen.

If they continue to struggle, call up prospects Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith, and light a fire under the Mets rear ends. It is a long season, but New York is putting themselves in a big hole.
