Jimmy Howard Dominates

Hockey writers and fans always talk about in the postseason how goalies can steal a series. Well, it is only the first week of the regular season, and Jimmy Howard was sensational in net for the Detroit Red Wings. He made 32 saves in a 2 to 1 victory over the New York Rangers.

He stopped so many valuable chances for the Rangers. The only puck that would get passed by him was a goal scored by Mika Zibanejad in the first-period.

In the second period, Thomas Vanek tied the game at 1.

In the third period, Drew Miller scored the game winning goal with :59 seconds into the third-period. The Rangers thought they tied it up later in the period, but it was waived off because of a high stick.

Henrik Lundqvist made 16 saves for the Rangers. These teams will play each other 2 more times this season.
