Mets April Was a Disaster

The Mets 23 to 5 loss yesterday against the Washington Nationals basically described the New York Mets season in a nutshell so far.

It has been embarrassing and painful to watch. Their record is 10-14 this season and they currently sit in last place in the NL East. All 24 games have been all in the division and they have seven games remaining against division opponents until later in the season.

The first non-division series is against the San Francisco Giants, starting May 8.

They have a four game series against the Atlanta Braves this week. If they lose the series, what should they do at this point?

They could salvage there season by sweeping Atlanta, but don't count on it. New York lacks effort all across the board. How is that the rebuilding New York Yankees are a better team than the supposed contenders New York Mets are?

Well one of the reasons might have do with manager. Terry Collins doesn't seem to have that magic punch any more and neither does general manager Sandy Alderson.

The biggest blame for the Mets woes in the past has to fall on trainer Ray Rameriz. He has no idea how to handle injuries and the players have more setbacks than usual.

A new trainer and new team doctors would maybe help the cause a little bit.

Noah Syndergaard (1-2 with 3.29 ERA two walks and 32 strikeouts.) is heading to the 10-day disabled list with a partial lat tear. It is not good news for Mets fans. Many people don't understand why he pitched yesterday. Syndergaard was scratched from his start on Thursday.

Yoenis Cespedes is also on the disabled list because they didn't handle his hamstring correctly.

The list just goes on and on. Cespedes batting average is .270 with six homeruns and 10 RBI's. Michael Conforto was by far the Mets best player in April. He had a .321 batting average with six homeruns and 13 RBI's.

Jay Bruce is also playing well. His batting average was .292 this past month with seven homeruns and 16 RBI's.

Curtis Granderson and Jose Reyes struggled big time in April. Wilmer Flores, Lucas Duda, David Wright, and Steven Matz are also on the disabled list.

Jacob DeGrom's record is 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA. He has 11 walks and 44 strikeouts. Matt Harvey's record is 2-1 with a 4.25 ERA. He has 10 walks and 18 strikeouts.

Jeurys Familia has one save this season, along with six walks and nine strikeouts. Addison Reed has the most saves on the team so far this season with four.

At some point, the Mets should maybe call up Amed Rosario, Brandon Nimmo, and Dominic Smith and let them play.

The next week will decide what kind of group this team is.
