Penguins Shoot for the Stars in Victory

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

On a night after losing to the New York Islanders, the Penguins were looking to rebound and shoot for the Stars in the sky. They defeated the Dallas Stars 6 to 2, on a tremendous team effort.

Marc-Andre Fleury was in net for the Penguins and he stopped 33 shots. It was his first win since October 29th against the Philadelphia Flyers. Fleury snaps a 5-game losing streak. During that span he went 0-3-2 and gave up 22 goals.

He was solid tonight, and the defense helped him out. In the first period, Ian Cole scored a goal for the Penguins. Devin Shore tied the game at 1 for the Stars. In the second period, Patric Hornqvist scored to give the Penguins a 2 to 1 lead. Tyler Seguin scored in the second-period, to tie it at 2 for the Stars.

With under 30 seconds remaining in the second-period, Sidney Crosby scored by hitting the puck and bouncing it off Antti Niemi's back. Niemi stopped 34 shots for the Stars.

After that happened, the Dallas Stars pressed the self destruct button. With under 4 minutes remaining in the third-period, Conor Sheary scored. Eric Fehr followed up 52 seconds later with an empty net goal. Nick Bonino scored 41 seconds later. It all happened in a span of 1:33.

These teams will play each other one more time this season.
