Scott Darling Making Name for Himself with Blackhawks

With the way Scott Darling is playing right now, he might get a contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks or sign with another team in the offseason.

He was impressive last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins with 36 saves. His record is 16-5-2 this season with a .931 save percentage and two shutouts. Darling seems to make the right saves at the right time. Let us not also forget that if it wasn't for him winning a couple of games in the first round in the 2015 playoffs, the Chicago Blackhawks would have not won the Stanley Cup that season.

So when it comes to the expansion draft this summer what will the Blackhawks do with their goaltending situation? It will not be a slam dunk for them. Corey Crawford is 32 years old and he has a no movement clause in his contract so he has to be protected.

I think he has reached his peak despite winning two Stanley Cups. I believe he has two championships because of the offense they supported him with and the defense supported him. Crawford still has a weak glove side and Darling's is a lot better.

Darling is 28 years old. He can start for a lot of NHL teams. Maybe if Chicago doesn't protect him, maybe Las Vegas will take him. If not, maybe the Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Carolina Hurricanes, or the Colorado Avalanche are some of the teams that could use his services.
