Thoughts on Las Vegas Golden Knights Name

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

In 2000, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild were the last NHL Expansion teams. In 2016, a new NHL franchise has been named called the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The inaugural season will start in 2017. I have no problem with the team name being Golden Knights.

However since Nevada is the Silver State, wouldn't it have made more sense for it to be the Silver Knights? Anyways, I don't have a problem with the league expanding, but having 31 teams in the league seems odd and how are they going to do the schedules next season?

Well some hockey fans don't seem to have a problem with the NHL expanding. Hockey fan Derrick Denman said, "I think it's good honestly." Another hockey fan, Ben Matello, seemed to be on the same page. "I like it. This is exciting," he said.

I thought they were going to add another NHL team to maybe Seattle, Portland, or Quebec City. Maybe that will happen in the near future. Realistically, what would have made the most sense was either moving the New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes, or Arizona Coyotes to Las Vegas.

On June 17, 2017 at 5 P.M., all 30 NHL teams must have their Player Protection List submitted in. The Las Vegas team must submit their expansion draft team on June 20,2017 at 5 P.M. On June 21,2017, the team will announce the selections.
