Four Bold Predictions for NFL Offseason

1. Jimmy Garoppolo remains a Patriot. There has long been speculation that Belichick and company would flip Garoppolo for a first round-pick. So long as Jimmy G doesn't demand a trade, I think it would be smart for the Patriots to hang on to him. They can continue to groom him to be Tom Brady's heir apparent, because even though Brady once again displayed his greatness in the Patriots unforgettable Super Bowl comeback, he will be turning 40. Garoppolo has showcased all of the skills that a franchise quarterback must possess. It would be wise for the Pats to hold onto the 25-year-old. If they play their cards right they can hope for a transition like the Colts had going from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck.

2. Deshaun Watson will be the first quarterback taken in the NFL Draft. To casual fans this wouldn't be that much of a surprise. However, many "experts" have former North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky slotted ahead of Watson in mock drafts. This happens across sports all of the time. Great college players (Watson) are glossed over in favor of players who have shown great potential, but have failed to consistently channel it (Trubisky). Once scouts get to meet with Watson and watch him light-up the NFL Combine this week, Watson will be the clear-cut number one quarterback in this year's NFL Draft.

3. Tony Romo will be starting for the Houston Texans Week 1. With Dak Prescott under center for the Cowboys, it makes very little sense for the Cowboys to hold onto the 36-year-old and have to pay him the $19.6 million that he is due. I predict the Cowboys will do Romo a favor and release him rather than look to trade him. Houston is the ideal fit for Romo. If not for the abysmal performance by Brock Osweiler, the Texans could have potentially beaten the Patriots in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs this past season. Houston's defense is anchored by Jadeveon Clowney and J.J. Watt. All Bill O'Brien and company are really missing is a quarterback who doesn't consistently throw the ball to the opposing team. Romo provides that. This needs to happen- it makes too much sense for both sides.

4. DeSean Jackson signs with the Titans. Marcus Mariota and company are right on the brink of taking that next step and cementing themselves as a legitimate threat in the AFC. Jackson would provide their receiving corps with a bonafide deep-threat that could take the top of off defenses. An offense featuring DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry in the backfield to go along with DeSean Jackson flanked out wide could cause real trouble for opposing defenses and lift the Titans into the postseason for the first time since 2008.
