NCAA Title Game Prediction
Full Disclosure: I had Duke beating North Carolina in my own bracket prior to the start of the Tournament. I thought that the Blue Devils and the Tar Heels were the two best teams in the field, and I still believe that to be true. South Carolina caught fire and faced Duke when they weren't firing on all cylinders and Mike Krzyzewski and company got beat. That's the beauty of the tournament though, the best teams don't always win.
Tonight is a match-up of a perennial blue-blood, North Carolina, against a de facto Cinderella, Gonzaga. Despite being a number one seed, the Bulldogs are in their first Final Four and they would by lying if they told you they weren't just happy to be there. North Carolina on the other hand is back in the National Championship a year after one of the most gut-wrenching defeats in sports history. They are seasoned and experienced. They also have a coach, in Roy Williams, who is quietly making a case to be in the discussion as one of the greatest handful of college coaches the game of basketball has ever seen.
Carolina's experience paired with the dominance of Junior forward Justin Jackson will be enough for the Tar Heels to cut down the nets in Phoenix. Tar Heels 77 .. Bulldogs 71.
