Three Training Camp Predictions

All 32 teams will begin training camp late next week. That means that there's a hint of football in the air. With that said, here are some storylines that I expect to pan out once the pads go on:

1. DeShone Kizer wins Browns starting job ... The Browns have been awful for my entire life. Literally. And they have gone through more quarterbacks than Joey Chestnut goes through hot dogs on the 4th of July. In Kizer, I think they may have found their signal-caller. The Notre Dame product has all of the qualities of a high-caliber NFL quarterback. Kizer has a strong arm, he's accurate, has a nice pair of legs, and has a good head on his shoulders. Come the end of training camp, I think that Kizer will be named the Cleveland Browns Week 1 starter and he will be the guy who Sashi Brown and the Cleveland front office build around for years to come.

2. Adrian Peterson emerges as Saints top running back ... Yeah, AP is 32-years old. So what? The man is a beast. As of now, the Saints starting running back figures to be Mark Ingram, but come the end of training camp, I expect Adrian Peterson to get the bulk of the handoffs from Drew Brees. Why? Because Adrian Peterson has a bad taste in his mouth. He was chased out of Minnesota in favor of a rookie. He will come in to camp in tip-top shape. In two of the past three seasons, Peterson has failed to register 40 carries. Now, some will see that as a negative and a knock on his durability, but I view it as a positive moving forward. AP is rested and his batteries are charged. Mark Ingram will surely get his share of carries, but Peterson will distinguish himself as the clear-cut starter for Sean Payton's squad.

3. Jared Goff feels the heat ... The Rams QB is on the precipice of becoming of the same ilk as Jamarcus Russell. In other words, he is on the path to becoming one of the most disappointing number one draft picks in the history of football, or sports for that matter. I understand that Goff has only played one season and that he can still theoretically figure it out, but I just don't see that happening. Last year he was down-right abysmal. There is no other way to put it. Once the season roles around, Jared Goff will be labeled as a bust.
