The Greatest Dodgers of All Time Part 1

The "Bullpen"

The following "reserves" are Starters that did not make the starting rotation because even at their best, can't beat the starters at their worst. Non the less they are damn great successful Pitchers with many achievements and awards!

Leon Cadore (1917): Threw: Right

"Caddy" Cadore was a relentless pitcher with a lot of stamina.

Holds the records for most innings pitched in a single game (26).

Proving when the desire to win is strong anything is possible.

His high energy and stamina makes him a great long relief pitcher.

Fernando Valenzuela (1981): Threw: Left

You're probably wondering, "WHAT?! Fernandomania as a reserve I must be crazy!"

At 20 years old he made his major league debut by consecutively winning his first 8 decisions.

Helping the Dodgers win the 1981 World Series and being the first, not only Mexican but player, to win the Rookie of the Year,

Cy Young, Silver Slugger and MLB's Strike out Leader with a devastating Screw Ball.

How can he be a reserve!? Right!

Hideo Nomo (1995): Threw: Right

The "Tornado" came to the U.S. on a permanent basis through contractual loop holes where the Dodgers immediately signed him up.

The 2nd Japanese born player to play in the U.S. MLB, became the first nominated as an All Star, MLB Strikeouts Leader and just edged out Chipper Jones for the Rookie of the Year Award.

He also broke Sandy Koufax 10.54 strike out per 9 innings single season record with a whopping 11.10 strike out per 9.

Claude Osteen (1969): Threw: Left

Claude Osteen was very focused and determined in this season.

This season's accomplishments became his career highs this season in all catagories.

Along with innings pitched at 321 and 41 starts.

The following "reserves" are Closers with a below .200 ERA with a mimum of 20 Saves

Kenley Jansen (2013):  Threw: Right

Prior to his 2010 debut as a relief pitcher and eventual closing role he was signed on as a Catcher. In 2013 Kenley started the season as the set up man for Brandon League.

Only appeared in 75 games, towards the end of the season, as the Dodgers closer, he still managed to save 28 games and have a successful year closing it out

Ron Perranoski (1963): Threw: Left

The lefty relief pitcher was unhittable this particular season. He

save 21 games and helped the Dodgers in game 2 of the 1963 world series against

the Yankees and shut the door on their championship hopes. Bam!

Phil "The Vulture" Regan (1966): ThrewRight

With so many great pitchers in the strating rotation for the Dodgers in 1966,

He was strictly used as a relief pitcher. He ran with it and

shut the door on the leagues'  best hitters. Named an All Star and winning the N.L.

Reliever of the Year award he was also the Comeback Player of the Year.

Eric Gagne "Game Over" (2003): Threw: Right

Called up to save 55 times, 100% success. The first pitcher to record 50 saves in a single season and fastest to reach 100 saves!

Won the Relief Man of the Year Award and Cy Young with a losing record.

Chances were if he came out, the hitter was striking out. A guaranteed win!
