NL Wildcard: Giants vs Mets

The NL Wildcard game is set to take place tonight from Citi Field as the New York Mets are set to host the San Francisco Giants in what should be a battle of aces. The Mets and Giants finished with identical 87-75 records, but the Mets have home field advantage as they won four of seven meeting this season with the Giants. First pitch is set for 8:09PM.

The San Francisco Giants choice of pitcher was a no-brainer, as they elected for Madison Bumgarner(15-9) who finished the season with an ERA of 2.74. The 27 year old lefty has been lethal on the road, as well as in past wildcard games. The Giants have faith in Bumgarner, and his road record shows that he is the best and obvious decision for the game tonight. The Mets on the other hand have elected to start their star pitcher Noah Syndergaard(14-9) who finished the season with an ERA of 2.60. The 24 year old righty is coming off of his second season as a major leaguer, but has proven that he is the real deal. The game should be a low scoring game as the two aces will battle it out as they headline this huge matchup. The Mets will look toward the veteran bats of Yoenis Cespedes, Jay Bruce, and Curtis Granderson for run support, while the Giants will be dependent on Hunter Pence, Buster Posey, Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford.

The game should be a thrilling and low-scoring game as both teams are evenly matched. All eyes will be on the two pitchers in tonights game as they have both been lights out all season. Who will crack first? Will it be Bumgarner, or Syndergaard? First pitch is at 8:09PM.
