DETROIT PISTONS OFFSEASON SO FAR

Optional...

In Stan Van Gundy second offseason with the pistons he is making some really big changes to put this team back on the map he is doing what Joe Dumars tried to do in his last 4 years but failed. Three weeks before free agency even started the pistons made a great move by sending caron butler and Shawnee Williams to the Milwaukee bucks for Ersan Ilyasova, this was a great move cause now SVG finally has a true stretch 4 to play with Andre Drummond. With this move Greg Monroe knew that he was not wanted in Detroit it was time to move on during the week of the draft everybody knew we needed a small forward it was either going to be Justice Winslow or Stanley Johnson. I personally wanted Stanley Johnson cause he was a better shooter , defender and his mindset and confidence was off the roof than justice winslow then SVG selected Stanley Johnson and a lot of the pistons fanbase was happy. In only 2 games Johnson has proved a lot his attack game is very good in his 2nd summer league he had 24 points and 9 rebounds with a couple of steals the video is right above so you can see for yourself. In The 3rd summer league game it was Johnson vs. Winslow the pistons ended up losing that game 78 to 73 Johnson finished with 14 points on 5-9 shooting from the field he showed his 3pt stroke this game going 3-4 from the perimeter he also showed he can create shots off the dribble, and shoot well off the dribble Johnson is going to be a stud in this league in the next 2-3 years pistons got a steal.

Free Agency - On July 1 at midnight SVG went after everybody the pistons was Danny green first meeting but the next day he deiced to cancel the meeting and resign with the spurs next they went after Demare Carroll who is a strong defender and good 3pt shooter but he ended up going to the raptors before the pistons was even able to meet with him. there next target was draymond green there was a lot of talks about him coming back to his hometown but he ended up resign back to the warriors, the pistons was missing out on every free agent that would fit good in this franchise, there was reports of tobias harris wanting a max deal with the pistons. I think SVG didn't go after him because there was reports about him not being a good leader and having a bad attitude towards teammates. The pistons needed to make a move cause the fans wanted something to be happy about this offseason on July 2 the pistons made a trade with phoenix suns they traded a second round draft pick in 2020 for Danny Granger, Marcus Morris and Reggie bullock granger most likely going to be waived, and bullock have a slim chance to make the roster but the shooting guard position is already filled. The only player that is going to remain on the team that came from the trade is Marcus Morris he could be the starter going in to opening night, SVG likes his 3pt shooting and toughness is going to be a interesting battle for the starting small forward spot.

The pistons also resigned Reggie Jackson to 5 year 80 million deal this fully gave Jackson the keys to the franchise for the starting point guard spot for the future I think the pistons starting lineup next season is going be Jackson KCP Morris Ilyasova Drummond, I Think Johnson is going have to earn his minutes for the small forward spot because SVG doesn't throw rookies right in the game he wants them to learn first. My prediction is that Stanley Johnson will be the starter for by 20 games in the season.
