DeMar DeRozan Needs More Love
After winning 56 games and taking the eventual champs to 6 games in the Eastern Conference Finals, many had the Raptors basically as an after-thought, if not written off, for the 2016-17 campaign. Well, here we are, four games in and the Raptors are off to a good start, sitting at 3-1 with the lone blemish being a 3-point loss to the Cavaliers.
DeMar DeRozan's incredible, MVP-Level play is why. Yes, it is a small sample size, but, DeRozan is averaging a spectacular 36.2 points a night, having scored 40, 32, 33 and 40. He's hitting 55.4% of his field goal attempts. The most impressive part? He's only made a single three point basket on just six attempts.
That is just, spectacular. For a swing man, in this day and age, to average well over 30 points while only completing one three point basket. Unheard of. His mid-range game is probably the best in the league, as he's shooting 57.7% on jumpers from 10 to 16 feet and 59.4% from 16 feet to the arc. Just eye-popping.
With all of the love the plays of Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis are getting, which is well deserved, DeRozan seems to be the outcast. If he keeps scoring at such an impressive clip, the media will be hard-pressed to ignore the swingman.
