MLS Week 20 Team of the Week

GK: Brad Guzan, Atlanta United FC

1x Team of the Week

In Guzan's first game back in MLS he came in with a bang. Guzan was able to shutout Orlando City SC while recording five saves in the process. Guzan was able to make some acrobatic saves and is looking to rejuvenate his career after his spell in England. If this is what Guzan will do in MLS than I am happy to have him.

DEF: Greg Garza, Atlanta United FC

4x Team of the Week

Another Atlanta player with USMNT experience makes the Team of the Week list. Garza has impressed since coming to MLS and easily has dominated as a top leftback talent. This week Garza was a top defender against Orlando City and shut them out. In the process of shutting out the Lions Garza was able to assist on a goal scored by Hector Villalba.

DEF: Joevin Jones, Seattle Sounders

4x Team of the Week

I LOVE JOEVIN JONES!!! Jones is so good and I am so happy having him in MLS during his best playing years! This week Joevin Jones was able to tally up three assists in two games! Jones has now more assists than any other defender in recent years. Jones isn't just a very good passer, he is a very good defender. The Seattle defense hasn't been great but not due to the play of Joevin Jones. Huge talent for a league that doesn't have an abundance of fullbacks.

DEF: Adolfo Machado, Houston Dynamo

5x Team of the Week

What a signing for the Dynamo this offseason. Machado has come in as a reliable centerback and played so well for them. This week Machado was the best defender for both of Houston's games. In both of their games they allowed a total of one goal in two wins. Machado is an older player but an All Star caliber defender for a team with a major defensive upgrade this offseason.

DEF: Aaron Long, New York Red Bulls

2x Team of the Week

Aaron Long was last season's USL Defender of the Year and now has become a starting centerback for the Red Bulls this year. Long has made his mistakes but he has also played really well at times. Long's talent was on display this week as he was a starting centerback for NYRB in both of their wins this week. Long was able to have a great week and continues to develop like another young American did a few years ago for the NYRB...

MID: Sacha Kljestan, New York Red Bulls

1x Team of the Week

Another Red Bull made the team of the week list and if you read last season's articles than you are used to seeing his name. BUT in 2017 we have yet to see Sacha's name. Kljestan scored one goal this week against San Jose. In the Red Bull total two games this week he was also able to record three assists. A big week from the Red Bulls #10 could be the turnaround to their season. For the Red Bulls to turn around they need Sacha to pass their was to success.

MID: Daniel Royer, New York Red Bulls

2x Team of the Week

Another Red Bull... this hurts from a NYC fan. Royer had himself a wonderful week for the Red Bulls and definitely played well from the improved Kljestan play. Royer this week scored three goals and had one assist in the Red Bulls two games against San Jose and Minnesota. Putting up those statistics in two games is crazy talented and what NYRB has needed.

MID: Alex, Houston Dynamo

5x Team of the Week

Alex is one of the most underrated #10's in MLS. Alex is a great distributor and has set up the scoring opportunities for Cubo, Manotas, Elis, and Quioto. This week Alex was able to record a total of three assists in Houston's two games against Minnesota and D.C. Alex is a solidified veteran and a key player to Houston's starting eleven moving forward into the playoff picture.

MID: Christian Roldan, Seattle Sounders

2x Team of the Week

WHAT A WEEK FROM ROLDAN! Roldan took over the offensive game this week with Jordan Morris and Clint Dempsey being away on USMNT duty. Roldan was able to score a total of three goals in two games, one of his goals being a game winner. Roldan is slowly becoming a top young talent and even breaking into the USMNT picture.

FOR: Christian Colman, FC Dallas

1x Team of the Week

Colman finally showed up for FC Dallas. Colman who has become the punch-line to many finishing jokes has finally finished some goals! Colman was able to score a brace in FC Dallas's 2-1 win over Montreal. Colman scores both of his teams goals and attained the win for Dallas.

FOR: David Villa, New York City FC

6x Team of the Week

THE CAPTAIN! David Villa once again produced for NYC and scored two goals in both of NYC's tough games this week. Besides totaling two goals Villa was able to record an assist against TFC on a Maxi Moralez goal. Where would this team be without Villa? I'm not sure. But I do know that Villa is dominant and will continue to be all season long.
