?The problem with NFL Color Rush

First things first, I love, love, love the much-maligned NFL color rush program; I think it adds a cool little element to an otherwise bland product on Thursday nights. I don't really care if it's mustard yellow vs. Blue's Clues (yes, I'm looking at you Jacksonville and Tennessee), it's just fun. However, I have one big problem with the games: the match ups.

The NFL knew that color rush was happening, long before the schedule was constructed. With that said, don't pit two team's with the the same color schemes together, which results in one team wearing white. An all-white uniform isn't much of a color scheme, even though I will say that the Giants, Bengals, Raiders, and Saints did an awesome job on the white unis. So far, here is a summary of the color rush match ups.

Jets vs. Bills - even though they don't wear the same colors, the NFL should know not to put a red and green match on the color rush slate after last season's debacle. Result: Jets in white

Patriots vs. Texans - the NFL originally had Houston in navy and New England in blue, which obviously wasn't going to work. They should have put one in red or the Pats in silver, but the result: Texans in white

Nah!

?

Bengals vs. Dolphins - the Dolphins could've worn teal, but they wore orange. The bengals could've worn black, and, thanks to the matchup, the couldn't wear orange. Cincinnati had a snazzy shoulder pattern, but the end result was: Cincinnati in white

Cardinals vs. 49ers - not a very aesthetically pleasing game, because both teams basically wore uniforms that they've worn before. Technically speaking, both teams have red as a primary color, so the result: Arizona in white and San Francisco in black

Chargers vs Broncos - now that's what I'm talking about. By far the best color rush matchup to date, whit the bolts in a nice blue and Denver donning throwback helmets with an orange color scheme.

Yup!

I know this was kind of nit-picky, but when I think color rush, I think more games should be like Denver and San Diego. Outside of that, there are quite a few problems with the Thursday night games (even though I am quite fond of having the game to watch on Thursday nights), but that's another story for another day.
