Lots of News for the Bucks This Week

If you are a fan of the NBA, or more specifically the Milwaukee Bucks, then you know that this team has been brought up quite a bit over the last few days. Let's recap what all has happened. The week started off well for Milwaukee fans as their young, star player, the "Greek Freak" Giannis Antetokounmpo signed to a 4-year, $100 million contract extension. This was not a max-deal contract, which both the Bucks and Antetokounmpo were perfectly fine with. Last year Antetokounmpo averaged 16.9 points, 4.3 assists, and 7.7 rebounds a game. He was a huge part of the Bucks' offense.

After the great news from the Bucks on the contract extension of Antetokounmpo, they received some upsetting news yesterday. Bucks' guard Khris Middleton suffered a left hamstring injury during a preseason workout. This injury was severe enough that Middleton will need surgery, according to General Manager John Hammond. This injury could sideline Middleton for 6 or more months. After hearing of the injury, Hammond released the following statement: “We’re obviously disappointed for Khris and our team, but injuries are an unfortunate part of the game,” said Hammond. “We’ll rely on our overall roster depth to help us while Khris is out for a significant period of the season.” Middleton averaged a career high 18.2 points a game last season.

Finally, the Bucks were brought up again today due to trades. The Houston Rockets have reached a deal with the Bucks that sends Michael Beasley to Milwaukee for Tyler Ennis. This is reportedly to help fill roles with the injury to Middleton. Beasley averaged 12.8 points for the Rockets. It definitely has been a busy news week for the Milwaukee Bucks filled with both good and bad news for their fans.
