Where Might the Panthers go at Pick No.8?

NFL: Combine

The Panthers are blessed with a top-ten pick (8th overall) in the 2017 draft and a total of four picks in the top 100. Needless to say, the Panthers have an opportunity to walk away with at least one generational player. The million dollar question is, who will that player be?

Many fans can agree that the Panthers top needs are edge rusher, safety, running back, and tight end. Those "analysts" that claim the Panthers need a cornerback are wrong. Besides the general consensus that those are the positions the Panthers need, there is a lot of debate on Twitter about who should be selected with that No. 8 pick. The running back department in particular, has set up a heated debate. Lots of once-in-a-generation running back talent expected to be picked up early in the draft.

There are plenty of rumors that the Panthers want to trade with the 49ers for the No. 2 pick, but still nothing set in stone. While it is mostly just talks, I would not be surprised if Gettleman tries to pull a last second trade deal.

Lets consider the mostly likely options for the Panthers No. 8 pick:

1) LSU running back Leonard Fournette

2) LSU safety Jamal Adams

3) running back Christian McCaffrey

4) Miami tight end David Njoku

5) Tight end O.J. Howard

The Panther's coaching staff has spent a lot of time watching Fournette and several Panthers staff attended his pro day. Everyone on that list as visited with the Panthers at least once. There is a good chance a few of them may be picked up before pick No. 8. Several NFL analysts believe both LSU stars could be picked up in the top five.

There is still a couple weeks left and lots of decisions to be made. This could be a very interesting draft.

Let me know who you believe the Panthers should take with pick No. 8.
