Philadelphia Union Chris Pontius Called up to U.S. MNT Gold Cup Roster

Chester PA: as the entire nation gets ready for the 2017 version of the Gold Cup, the United States National team had to make a roster change before they start the Gold Cup tournament.

On Wednesday U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Bruce Arena has has called up Philadelphia Union midfielder Chris Pontius to the Gold Cup roster because of the injury to Gent midfielder Kenny Saief who is battling a groin injury. Pontius will join the team in Nashville on Friday following the Union game against Kansas City on Thursday Night. Pontius will join fellow Union teammate Alejandro Bedoya on the roster.

So far in 2017 with the Union, Pontius has recorded 6 assists in 17 games and he recorded a 2 assist game in the win over Houston back on May 17 . Pontius has made 2 previous appearances with the US Mens National team which were both in 2017, First was January 29th vs Serbia & second was on February 2 vs Jamaica.

July 8 vs Panama from Nashville (4:30 PM on FOX)

July 12 vs Martinique from Tampa Bay (8:30 PM on FS1)

July 15 vs Nicaragua from Cleveland (7PM on FXX)

The Gold Cup comes to Philadelphia on July 19 for 2 Quarterfinals games at Lincoln Financial Field
