2017 MLB Power Rankings: Week 4

2017 MLB Power Rankings: 4/24/17-4/30/17
Another thrilling week in the baseball as the Nationals scored 23 runs yesterday as they beat the Mets 23-5. The Nats also lost their lead-off hitter, Adam Eaton who they traded a lot for is out for the season with a torn ACL. The Mets lost their ace for at least two months in Noah Syndergaard who has a partial tear of the right lat muscle. The Yanks came back on Friday night down 9-1 to the Baltimore Orioles and won 14-11 in extra innings (10 innings) on a walk-off home run by Matt Holliday. It was a crazy first month of the season with injures to some star players.
(Season Record), [Previous Week's Ranking], {+, - and =}
T.1 Houston Astros- (16-9), [3], {+2} The Astros are playing very good right now and are the best team in the AL. They're second in team batting average (.272) and third team ERA (3.38) in MLB. 3-3 This week.
T.1 Washington Nationals- (17-9). [4], {+3} The Nats this past week scored a total of 77 runs this past week alone; 46 runs scored at Coors Field (Colorado). The Nats will probably run away with the NL East now that the Mets have lost Noah Synswegaard for at least two months. 4-3 This week.
3. Chicago Cubs- (13-11), [6], {+3} The Cubs aren't playing up to their potential but they are still playing solid enough right now. Soon enough they will go on a winning streak and run away with the NL Central. 3-3 This week.
4. Cleveland Indians- (14-10), [9], {+5} The Indians have started to come along after starting off slowly. They are in the top ten in runs scored and top five in OBP in MLB. 4-2 This week.
5. New York Yankees- (15-8), [7], {+2} The Yanks keep on finding ways to win and scoring runs in the process. They're tied for third in home-runs with 37. Rookie Right Fielder, Aaron Judge is tied for third in HRs with 10. 4-1 This week.
6. Baltimore Orioles- (15-8), [1], {-5} The O's had a rough weekend in the Bronx they blew a 11-4 on Friday night, lost 12-4 on Saturday and almost lost yesterday after blowing the lead in the ninth but winning in extra innings. 3-3 This week.
7. Colorado Rockies- (16-10), [2], {-4} The Rockies had a rough start of the week at home losing three out four to the Nationals given up a total of 46 runs. However, the went into Arizona and won two games. 3-4 This week.
8. Arizona Diamondbacks- (16-11), [5], {-3} The D-Backs are second in runs scored with 141 and first in stolen bases with 32. They took three out four from the Padres but lost two out of three to the Rockies. 4-2 This week.
9. Boston Red Sox- (13-11), [9], {-1} The Sox are third in batting average (.270), tied for fifth in OBP (.334) in MLB. 2-3 This week.
10. Los Angeles Dodgers- (14-12), [15], {+5} It sucks the Dodgers are in the NL West because the D-Backs and Rockies are playing better then them right now. 5-2 This week.
11. St. Louis Cardinals- (12-12), [17], {+6} The Cards are starting to play good baseball like everybody expected them to. The offense is starting to come around and the pitching too. 3-2 This week.
12. Detroit Tigers- (12-12), [10], {-2} The Tigers scored 19 runs last Tuesday against the Mariners and only scored 15 runs since including getting shutout the next night. The've lost four of their last five games. 2-4 This week.
13. Chicago White Sox- (13-10), [22], {+9} The White Sox continue to play very good baseball as they're in second place in the AL Central behind the Indians. They've won six of their last seven games. 5-1 This week.
14. Milwaukee Brewers- (13-13), [19], {+5} The Brewers aren't a great team but they can score runs and hit the ball. They lead the Majors in home-runs with 45. 4-2 This week.
15. Tampa Bay Rays- (12-14), [13], {-2} The Rays are top ten in home-runs with 31 and top 15 in runs scored with 111. As I said last week they're good one week and bad another and that trend continues. 2-4 This week.
16. Los Angeles Angels- (14-13), [25], {+9} The Angels have been another team that's been up and down. They have won six of their last seven games and are sitting in second place right now. 6-1 This week.
17. Minnesota Twins- (12-11), [17], {+3} The Twins have been an interesting team this season so far. They had that great start and have fallen off little bit but has managed to stay around .500. 4-1 This week.
18. Seattle Mariners- (11-15), [24], {+6} The Mariners are sixth in runs scored with 119 runs but they can't seem to put together a winning streak and are still under .500 a month into the season. 3-3 This week.
19. Texas Rangers- (11-14), [14], {-5} The Rangers are ninth in Team ERA (3.89) however, their bullpen as been horrible having seven blown saves. They haven't been playing great baseball. 2-4 This week.
20. Miami Marlins- (11-12), [11], {-9} The Marlins are one of those teams that will be around .500 all season. They have a solid offense but their pitching will be their downfall. I really some of their hitters. 1-4 This week.
21. Pittsburgh Pirates- (11-13), [21], {=} The Pirates starters are fifth in ERA 3.63 but in the bottom ten in wins with only seven. They are in the bottom five in runs scored having only scored 90 runs so far. 3-3 This week.
22. Cincinnati Reds- (11-13), [12], {-10} The Reds started off good and have fallen to right where I expected them to be. They're a good young team with some good younger pitching but enough to complete yet.
23 Philadelphia Phillies (11-12), [16], {-7} The Phillies were on a six game winning streak until they arrived in Los Angeles and played the Dodgers. They got swept by the Dodgers including blowing a three run lead in the ninth on Saturday night. 2-3 This week.
24. New York Mets- (10-14), [23], {-1} As I said above the Mets lost their star pitcher Noah Syndergaard for at least two months. Their offense is gonna need to carry them for while but they're missing their best hitter in Yoenis Cespedes is also injured and on the 10-Day DL. 2-3 This week.
25. San Francisco Giants- (9-17), [28], {+3} The Giants can't seem to find their way so far this season. They can't score runs 29th in runs scored (87) as they're missing several guys on offense but even then they don't have a great offense. 3-4 This week.
26. Toronto Blue Jays- (8-17), [T.30], {+4} The Jays are still not scoring runs as they're 28th in runs scored and 26th in team batting average (.228). 3-4 This week.
27. Atlanta Braves- (10-13), [T.30], {+3} The Braves are 16th in runs scored with 104 and 19th in HRs with 27. Their pitching as been below average. 4-1 This Week.
28. Oakland Athletics- (11-14), [18], {-10} The A's I had to high last week because they had a great week and that was a mistake they're not a top 20 team. They're 26th in runs scored with 91. 1-5 This week.
29. San Diego Padres- (11-16), [27], {-2} The Padres aren't a very good team yet they can't score runs and their pitching is sub par at best. However, they have a guy in Will Myers that's a pretty good player. This is where I expect them to be all season bottom three team. 3-4 This week.
30. Kansas City Royals- (7-16), [26], {-4} The Royals are on a nine game losing streak and are the worst team in baseball. They've scored 63 runs total in the month of April and the Washington Nationals scored 77 runs in seven games. That's unreal. 0-5 This Week.
Raise and Fall:
Raise: Chicago White Sox 22nd to 13th and LA Angels 25th to 16th (+9)
Fall: Cincinnati Reds 12th to 22nd and Oakland Athletics 18th to 28th (-10)
So starting next week since we are in the month of May now, teams stats will be more into account with how I do my rankings moving forward. I just wanted to wait until the first month of the season was over. Also I will factor in how the team played during the week and how they've been doing all season moving forward too. I'm not gonna ranked each team by their week's record it be more basic off who they beat and how they did in those wins.
