Coach Taylor looks for Victory #30 tonight @ St. Albans.

#12 Hurricane concludes it's regular season tonight at St. Albans (1-8).  With a victory, Coach Taylor and the Redskins would secure their 4th Playoff appearance in his 5 years as Head Coach. But Scott Tinsley and his Red Dragons will not be an easy victory for Hurricane.

Some reasons for Concern? The last time Hurricane traveled to the old Stadium at the foot of the bridge, Hurricane struggled with an inferior St. Albans squad and were lucky to escape with a 39-36 victory, made possible by some electric Kickoff returns by current Senor Nick Williams.

Additionally St. Albans had one of the hottest teams in the state in South Charleston all but defeated in St. Albans before succumbing 39-38. Also Hurricane is a 1-4 team over it's last 5 games and cannot take ANY team for granted at this point? Finally Coach Tinsley is no stranger to the Redskins having served the prior 2 years as Hurricane's Offensive Coordinator.  He knows Hurricane's players, plays, schemes, and terminology. Additionally, if there is a way to get a 1-8 team playing out the season up for a game, this is how, defeat the team your coach was part of for 2 years.

2014 Hurricane starting QB Dylan Tinsley serves on the Red Dragon Coaching staff.

But facts are facts: St. Albans has not defeated a single AAA team this season with their sole victory coming against a winless AA Nitro team. In the Red Dragons 8 losses their opponents have scored At least 30 points, and have given up over 49 points SIX times this year! (70, 57, 56, 56,50, and 49).

Midland and GW put up 56 on the Red Dragons

Keys to the Game: Hurricane must establish the run. The Redskins have performed poorly on their trips to grass fields, and tonight's playing surface will not be good. Take away Boobie McDougale's two long TD runs against Cabell Midland, and the Redskins have not had a running back top 100 yards on the season thus far. The is no better time than tonight to get the running game up and well.....running.

Can the Redskins get Boobie unleashed tonight??

Do not let the underdog Red Dragons hang around! Against lesser opponents Woodrow Wilson and Brooke, the Redskins took care of business early and enjoyed large halftime leads. If they get the 1 win St. Albans squad down early, they will roll to an easy victory. Fail to execute, turn the ball over, give up a big play or two, and the Red Dragons will start believing that they can win!

Hurricane needs to squash St. Albans belief of victory EARLY tonight

News and Notes: For the tenth time this season Nick Scala has picked the Redskins to win. This time around ALL of his fellow WVGazette gurus have also picked Hurricane over St. Albans. Look for the possibility of Freshman Christian Hill (141 yards rushing) to get some meaningful carries tonight. If Hurricane gets the victory tonight they are likely to travel to Morgantown next week to play in a first round playoff game. Lucas Cooper (80 tackles) needs 9 tackles to surpass his team leading 88 stops from a year ago. He is being challenged for the team lead this season by his brother J.T. Cooper (77 tackles).

Lucas #22 and JT #36 combine on one of their collective 157 tackles this season.l
