Mark Cuban says Russell Westbrook not in the MVP race or a "Superstar", is he on Track or Crack?

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

If you know Dallas Mavericks owner then you know he's never been afraid to speak his mind and when asked about Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook, Cuban said that Westbrook is "Not a leading candidate in the MVP race." Cuban has gone on the record as saying that Westbrook is not an NBA superstar.

When asked about who his NBA MVP candidates were he said it was a "toss- up" between LeBron James, James Harden and Kawhi Leonard.

Per ESPN

His comments were:

"He's not," Cuban said while going through his pregame exercise routine ahead of Dallas' 104-89 win over OKC.

Cuban is well-aware that Westbrook is on pace to join Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to average a triple-double for a season. Westbrook leads the NBA in scoring (31.7 points per game), ranks third in assists (10.1) and 12th in rebounding (10.7). Cuban acknowledges that Westbrook is "an amazing athlete" who is the "most explosive" player in the league and has the "best motor."

Cuban also said "The criteria hasn't changed," Cuban said. With a wry smile, he added: "And if I changed my mind, it would ruin all the fun for you guys."

He also added that the Thunder should have to win 50 games to even be considered. I don't care how you look at it, Cuban wouldn't have mumbled such words if Westbrook was in a Mavericks uniform, but it's Mark Cuban and he's all about headlines. I'm sticking to my pick of Westbrook as MVP so if you missed it take a look at why I'm sticking to my pick.
