MLB DFS Advice Early 9/2/18
Yesterday, we saw tons of good baseball and many close games. We saw a little bit of offense, a little bit of pitching and some games with both. It was just a matter of if you picked the right combination of both in your lineups as always. Today I am here to help you out a bit. Yesterday, I rostered Wei-Yin Chen, and he went for upwards of 30 points for a laughable price. Another under the radar pick was Eugenio Saurez, going for 12 points with barely any ownership in tournaments. Finally, I picked up Ji-Man Choi aswell and he collected 3 base hits, including 2 doubles, for 13 points at under 1% owned across most tournaments. As we all get set to lock in our lineups for MLB DFS today, I am here to give you some under the radar picks that may just make the difference in your linueps. Here are Max's Mustplays:
1. Willians Austudillo, 3B/C $3,600*
I love this play today. At a pretty afordable price and other catchers gaurenteed to draw most of the attention today (Realmuto vs Reid-Foley, Sanchez vs a lefty, Piña, Molina etc.) You could be one of the very few with Austudillo today. He has an incredible matchup with struggling Rangers starter Yohander Mendez who has an astronomical 14.38 ERA and struggles against Righties as one could imagine with that ERA. Austudillo being one of those righties, he could be in for a several hit day. He offers some flexibility as well if you would rather play him at third. There is one catch though, and it is a major one: Will Austudillo get the start. If he does in fact find his way into the starting lineup today, he could be your under the radar twins bat that will score lots of runs today.
2. Jonathan Villar, 2B $4,100*
Jonathan Villar could be in for a huge day today. Going up against subpar right-hander Jorge Lopez, who has struggled of late, Villar could go to town. Batting in the 3-hole today, we aren't playing Villar just for his Stolen Base upside (which he actually does have a ton of today with Salvador Perez out), but also his RBI potential. The Orioles could score a lot of runs today, and with Villar being in the heart of the lineup, he will be in positions all day to drive in runs. With Options like Javy Baez, Gleyber Torres and Rougned Odor projected to get most of the 2B ownership, this is a great under the radar pick that could set your lineup apart.
3. Brian Anderson, 3B/OF $4,200*
My final under the radar selection for the Early slate today is Brian Anderson. With the Marlins going toe to toe with struggling RHP Reid-Foley today, there are more reasons to like this pick then the atrocious sight of Foley's ERA (8.68). One of those reasons is of course how horrible Ried-Foley has been, but another one is that this matchup could actually get some low ownership thanks to lots of other weak pitchers playing more highly powered offenses like Boyd vs the Yankees. Another reason is that Anderson won't be too highly owned because DFS players tend to love the Righty vs Lefty matchup or vice versa. Anderson and Foley's right handedness could potentially turn a lot of owners away. The Marlins are going to score some runs today facing a weak pitcher. Anderson has arguably been their best hitter. He can hit righties just as well (if not better actually, has a higher batting average against Righties this season) as lefties. He will have low ownership and is affordable. All of these statements make Anderson an absolute must play.
Those are Max's Mustplays today. Picking one, two or maybe even all three of these guys could really help set you apart from the rest of the field in your tournaments or your head to head matchups. Good luck today!
