Clemson continued its dominance by putting away Virginia Tech Saturday night. The Tigers appear to be loaded once again, and might just be on the same level as Alabama. Quarterback Kelly Bryant has been solid so far, and the Tigers boast the best defense in the country.

Alabama made two statements in their past two conference games. Or did they? The Tide outscored Vanderbilt and Ole Miss 125-3 the past two weeks, but that might just be because their competition is weak. The SEC isn't as deep as the used to be, at least not yet. The Tide is part of a two-team race in this conference, and that might be reason enough to hold your excitement. Still, the last two weeks show that the Tide haven't lost a step just yet.

Penn State has been solid, but we still don't know how good this team actually is. That question should be answered in the next month. The Nittany Lions face Northwestern, Michigan, Ohio State, and Michigan State in their next four games, and we will figure out who they are soon.

Oklahoma was off last week, and host Iowa State this week. This could be a trap game if the Sooners are looking ahead to their matchup with Texas.

Georgia is the other team in the two-team SEC race, and the Bulldogs might be ready to compete with anyone despite starting a freshman quarterback. Jake Fromm hasn't done anything spectacular stats-wise, but the Bulldogs feel comfortable so far with him behind center. With Jacob Eason returning from injury, Georgia should feel fine regardless of who's throwing the ball.
