The Scoop: Waiver Wire Options

After a couple weeks away, I'm back at it with some great waiver wire options that may not be available for much longer.

Brandon Moss, 1B, Cardinals - The right handed pitching killer Moss has almost matched his home run total of 19, that he posted last year by already slugging 16, in less than half the at-bats. He gets the bulk of his starts against righties, so when the Cardinals face a lefty he'd be on the bench. If your in need of HR's, RBI's and are good with Moss seeing most of his at-bats vs righties then pick him up. You probably won't find another player with more of those two stats than him. Whit Merrifield, 2B, Royals - This 27 year old rookie has done admirably since his call up. Now batting atop the Royals lineup, Merrifield has scored 21 runs, driven in 12, and has swiped four bases, all in 29 games. Not bad for this late bloomer. So long as he stays atop the batting order, Merrifield would be a great addition to your team. (Owned in 42% of Yahoo Leagues)

Justin Turner, 1B/3B, Dodgers - Turner has put his slow start behind by having a good start to June and an even better last 7 days. Over those 7 days he's hit four long balls, driven in 9, and has hit to a .400 AVG. Turner's seemed to have found his stroke and won't be available much longer if he keeps it up, which I think he will. (Owned in 68% of Yahoo leagues)

Trevor Bauer, SP, Indians - Bauer has quite the month of June so far. In 5 starts so far he's posted a 1.86 ERA, gone 2-0, with three no decisions, and struck out 38 in 38.2 IP all while pitching into the seventh inning and beyond in each start. Needless to say he's on a bit of a roll, grab him while he's still available. (Owned in 55% of Yahoo leagues)

Until next time,
