Chicago Bears 2018 7 Round Mock Draft

RD 1: WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama

RD 2: TE Mark Andrews, Oklahoma

RD 4: OT Jamarco Jones, Ohio State

RD 5: Edge Joe Ostman, Central Michigan

RD 6: DT Trenton Thompson, Georgia

The Bears have a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Now they need to build around Mitchell Trubisky in order to be successful. Their biggest need is for people to catch passes from him. He had a very untalented group of receivers this year to work with and will need better talent to support him. This leads to the number one receiver in the draft, Calvin Ridley going number one. He is a polished receiver that can use route running to get open and has very solid hands.

With Zach Miller recovering from his gruesome injury, the Bears also grab a talented tight end to stretch defenses. Andrews is the best tight end to come out of Oklahoma since Jermaine Gresham. He will give them yet another solid weapon for Trubisky. Jones was a solid tackle for Ohio State and should be able to come in and compete for a starting job. Ostman and Thompson will add very solid depth to the defense where they need it most. Ostman will develop behind Pernell McPhee. He has great strength off the edge and will be a great speed rusher in the rotation. Thompson can play behind Akiem Hicks and Jonathan Bullard. He brings speed and strength to the rotation. He would be a steal here.

Overall, the Bears gain some depth in areas other than the secondary. They also strengthen the offense around Trubisky to help him develop. If they can resign Cameron Meredith, they will have a solid young core of playmakers to build the offense through. Ridley can break open games with Andrews being a solid safety net. Those two will also help to open up holes for Jordan Howard. This offense should be able to be a lot more balanced this season.
